PORCELAIN VENEERS
Completely reshape your teeth for a beautiful, white smile.

The Problem:
Stained or discolored teeth
Unsightly gaps between front teeth
Chipped teeth
Rough or jagged edges on front teeth
Teeth that are too small or large in proportion to rest of the mouth
Worn Teeth
Crooked Teeth
The Solution:
Porcelain veneers are thin, semi-translucent "shells" of porcelain that are permanently bonded to your teeth. While they are not suitable for every patient. Each porcelain laminate is a work of art, carefully crafted in a laboratory to fit your individual smile. Often it is advantageous to whiten all teeth before treatment because the laminates allow color transfer from beneath. This further insures a whiter, brighter smile. Porcelain Veneers are a cosmetic alternative for a variety of dental conditions of the front teeth.
Advantages:
In the hands of a highly skilled dentist, porcelain veneers can provide you with an incredibly natural, beautiful smile. They are virtually undetectable and can dramatically improve your appearance. They are durable and long-lasting when compared to other cosmetic treatments.
Disadvantages:
Although they are highly durable, porcelain veneers are not permanent. Well crafted veneers will last many years, but will eventually need to be replaced.
Alternatives:
Porcelain veneers are an excellent investment. However, they are not appropriate for teeth with excessive decay or fracture. In those cases, porcelain crowns are the only alternative. In the event that you desire only to improve tooth alignment, orthodontic treatment may be another alternative.

THE VENEER PROCEDURE
The dentist will reduce the enamel on the tooth to ensure the finished tooth is a natural shape. This is done by carefully preparing striations in the enamel. This allows the depth of the cut to be accurately gauged.
Once the depth marking striations have been cut, the dentist reduces the tooth to the level of the cut.
With the reduction made, an impression is taken. This impression is sent to a laboratory to fabricate a Porcelain Veneer. This may take up to two weeks. During this waiting period a temporary facing may be made for you.
When the veneer returns from the lab, it is bonded to the tooth. This creates an aesthetically pleasing finish to the tooth.
